What is a Friendship Book?
Friendship Books (FB's) are small booklets that are passed along from one person to another via postal mail. Everybody puts their name, address and info in the FB and when it is full the last signer returns it
to the person it was made for.

What do you do when you receive an FB?
When you receive an FB, you put your name and address in it (or use an address label) as well as what you're looking for (penpals, swappers, etc.) In stead of using up lots of space and writing it all out, you use abbreviations. Here's a list of the ones that are most commonly used:

NPW = new pals wanted
NSW = new swappers wanted
LLP = long letter pals
SNNP = sorry, no new pals
A/A = answer all
A/S = answer some
W/W = worldwide
SAHM = stay at home mom
DOB = date of birth

For example: "A/A LLP W/W" would mean: I answer all long letter pals worldwide

After you've signed the FB you pass it on to a next person

Friendship Books travel all over the world and are passed on from one person to another with letters or in swaps. To keep them moving fast and get them back to their owner sooner try not to keep them longer than two weeks before passing them on again.

Where do I send a Friendship Book?
You can add an FB to a letter to one of your penpals, look for a new swapper in the Swapper Ads or join a swapping group at Yahoo. Be sure the person you are sending an FB to knows what to do with it, so explain what it is or refer to this website!

What do you do when an FB is full?
When you are the last signer in an FB (then it's also known as a "homer"), you send it back to the person it was made for. You can check beforehand if the address is still correct by sending them an email, or by joining an address checking group like ReturnToSender

What do you do when you get a full FB back?
What you do with an FB once you get it back full is up to you. I usually spend some time looking at where it has been (it's amazing to see where a few small sheets of paper can travel!) and I make "thank-you" FB's for everybody who signed my FB. You can also look through the signers to see if there are people you would like to write or swap with and send them a letter. FB's are small and don't take up much space, so I keep
them with my letters to look at them again later.
